Melbourne

Join us for an extraordinary gathering of groundwater expertise at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, from September 15-19, 2025. This event, held in conjunction with the 2025 Australasian Groundwater Conference, marks a significant return of the World Groundwater Congress to Australia after 12 years.

Groundwater is a vital resource that profoundly impacts our environment, economies, and communities. As we face increasing pressures from population growth and climate change, this Congress provides an invaluable platform to exchange insights and expertise, nurture our emerging professionals and researchers, and tackle the challenges ahead.

Melbourne, a city of over 5 million inhabitants, stands as a hub of research and tertiary education, hosting around 100,000 international university students. Situated along the Birrarung (Yarra River), Melbourne has been home to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation for millennia. In honouring this heritage, we are dedicated to highlighting Indigenous groundwater connections, rights, values, and knowledge during a dedicated session.

Today, Melbourne thrives as a vibrant mosaic of diverse cultures, contributing to its unique character as an Australian city. We eagerly anticipate your presence in Melbourne in 2025, where together, we will explore the present and future challenges surrounding groundwater
